PERSONAL INTRODUCTION AND HONORS

 

Shih-Lin Wu received the Ph.D. degree in computer science and information engineering from National Central University, Taiwan, in 2001. He was the Chairman of the Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering, Chang Gung University (CGU), from 2007 to 2011 and from 2016 to 2018. He has been the Direct of AI Innovation Center, CGU, since 2018. His current research interests include mobile/wireless networks, Internet of Things, intelligent robots, and big data analysis. He was a Program Chair of Mobile Computing in 2005 and the International Workshop on Data Management in Ad Hoc and Pervasive Computing in 2009, a Co-Chair of the International High Speed Intelligent Communication in 2009 and the International Symposium on Bioengineering in 2011, a General Chair of Mobile Computing 2012, a Co-Chair of the International High Speed Intelligent Communication and International Conference on Computational Problem-Solving in 2013, and a Program Chair of the International Computer Symposium in 2016. Several of his papers have been chosen as selected/distinguished papers in international conferences and have been cited over several hundred times. He serves as a member of the Editorial Board for Telecommunication Systems, International Journal of Ad Hoc and Ubiquitous Computing, and ISRN Communications.

Awards:

1. To guide undergraduates as an advisor in the 2019 National Colleges and Universities Intelligent Innovation and Cross-domain Integration Creation Competition. The students won and were awarded "Excellent Work", in the theme “Digital Sustainable Technology”, with the work "Smart                Visitor Interactive System".

2. To guide undergraduates as an advisor in the 2019 National Colleges and Universities Intelligent Innovation and Cross-domain Integration Creation Competition. The students won and were awarded " Best Innovation Award " with the work " AI Interactive Visitor System Based on Image              Recognition and Speech Analysis ".

3. To guide undergraduates as an advisor in the 2018 Cheng Shidao-Programming Design Competition. The students won the second place with the work " Interactive Education System for Smart Bracelet ".

 

4. To guide undergraduates as an advisor in the 2018 National College of Industry-University Innovation Practice Competition. The students were awarded " Best Innovation Award " with the work " Interactive Education System for Smart Bracelet ".

5. To guide undergraduates Cai Wanzhi, Chen Xiaoxuan, You Kaiting and Shi Yanting in the 2018 National College of Industry-University Innovation Practice Competition the 2017 "Campus 4G Mobile Application Service Group" competition held by the Ministry of Education and the Taipei              Computer Association and won the third place.

6. To guide undergraduates Peng Yangkai, Yu Yijun, and Li Meichen in the 2015 “4G Wireless Broadband Application and Promotion APP Competition on Campus” held by the Ministry of Education and China University of Technology, and won the prize "Excellent Work".

 

LAB INTRODUCTION

To develop artificial intelligence (AI)-related technologies and participate in the AI development plan of the Formosa Plastics Group (FPG), the Chang Gung University AI Innovation Research Center was formally established in 2018. It is the first AI center that cross-medical and manufacturing in Taiwan and is expected to become Asia's top and world-renowned AI center. The center is very different from others because of two unique features: (1) rich enterprise field data and (2) real application fields. We have collaborated with affiliated hosptials/companies of FPG to proceed with the smart medical/manufacturing related-projects. For instance, Prof. Wu’s group and FPG are working tighter trying to use the manufacturing parameters of the assembly line to forecast the quality of chemicals material utilizing customized deep learning approach. Another research is developing an Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) equipment based on deep learning technology to detect and classify the defects on products.
