PERSONAL INTRODUCTION AND HONORS

Tsai-Yen Li received the BS in 1986 from National Taiwan University and MS and Ph.D. in 1992 and 1995, respectively, from Stanford University. He was also a visiting Professor at Stanford in 2007. He is currently a professor in the Computer Science Department at National Chengchi University and the director of the Center for Creativity and Innovation Study. He served for two years (2014-2016) as the director of the Department of Information and Technology Education, in the Ministry of Education in Taiwan. His main research interests include Robotics, Computer Animation, Intelligent User Interface, Motion Planning, Interactive Narrative, and Artificial Life. He is a member of IEEE, ACM, and TAAI.

 

LAB INTRODUCTION

 

The Intelligent Media Lab (IM-Lab) is a research laboratory led by Prof. Tsai-Yen Li under the Computer Science Department at National Chengchi University. IM-Lab is dedicated to understanding how research results in the fields of Artificial Intelligence and Multimedia can be applied to the storage, processing, transmission, and presentation of innovative intelligent media.

Research carried out at IM-Lab extends broadly among the fields of Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, Motion Planning, Virtual Reality, Computer Animation, User Interactions, Computational Geometry, and e-Learning, to develop innovative tools and techniques. Potential applications of these techniques include autonomous robot/drone, 3D virtual environments, character animation, intelligent user interface, computer game design, interactive storytelling, and information visualization.
